Lionel Messi's Athlete-Style Baked Milanesa Napolitana
A baked, performance-adapted version of Messi's absolute favorite childhood comfort dish. Using lean skinless chicken breast, whole-wheat breadcrumbs, and light mozzarella cheese, it minimizes saturated fats.

Ingredients
- 2 skinless chicken breasts, pounded thin
- 1/2 cup whole-wheat breadcrumbs
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup fresh crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup low-fat mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Pinch of sea salt and pepper
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 200C (390F) and lightly grease a baking sheet with olive oil.
- Season the thin chicken breasts with sea salt and black pepper.
- Dip each chicken breast into the beaten egg, then press into the whole-wheat breadcrumbs until fully coated.
- Place the breaded chicken on the baking sheet and bake for 12 minutes. Flip and bake for another 5 minutes.
- Spoon the fresh crushed tomatoes over each chicken breast, top with shredded mozzarella, and sprinkle with dried oregano.
- Bake for another 3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Serve immediately.
