Perogies with Caramelized Onions and Cabbage
This comforting dish features tender perogies tossed with sweet caramelized onions and sautéed cabbage, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

- 60 gSalted butter
- 2 mediumYellow onions, thinly sliced
- 500 gGreen cabbage, thinly sliced
- 900 gFrozen cheese and potato perogies
- 5 gSalt
- 3 gGround black pepper
- 125 mlSour cream, for serving
Method
- Melt 30 g of butter in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-low heat. Add the 500 g thinly sliced yellow onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for 20-25 minutes until deeply golden and caramelized.⏱ 23 min timer in cook mode
- Add the 500 g thinly sliced green cabbage to the skillet with the onions. Increase heat to medium and cook, stirring frequently, until the cabbage is tender and slightly browned, about 10-12 minutes. Season with 5 g salt and 2.5 g ground black pepper.⏱ 11 min timer in cook mode
- While the onions and cabbage are cooking, bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add the 900 g frozen perogies and cook for 3-5 minutes, until they float to the surface. Drain well.⏱ 4 min timer in cook mode
- In a separate large non-stick skillet, melt the remaining 30 g of butter over medium heat. Add the drained perogies in a single layer and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and slightly crispy.⏱ 7 min timer in cook mode
- Gently combine the cooked perogies with the caramelized onions and cabbage mixture in the large skillet. Toss to ensure everything is well mixed and heated through.
- Serve immediately with 125 ml sour cream on the side.
